What you see in the artworks are fused layers of city patterns in the form of hybridised hacked imaginary data maps. Layers of data, information and GPS information form these images. These lines, grids, and shapes form the design of the city. I see these forms as the drawing and marks we have made and and left behind on the landscape. In essence the artworks represent the scars on the landscape that we have created into by our actions. They all have in common that they depict maps with layers of confused data, mixed information, and they juxtapose systems about the landscape. These are all based on real places but they becomes poetic interpretations of places we inhabit that appear to us as abstracted forms created randomly or by chance but are in effect part of the fabric of the design of our global cities. Here they are being exhibited at La Panacee in Montpelier.
In thinking and making these work, various other things start to be played out. The concepts of the city of noise, the control city of data, the living breathing city space. Within the series some also merge city data with other cities to create what I term The Third Space a sort of confused multi layered migrant city. These images also play on the relationship of scale with the micro and the macro . Here is the city as living organism; it's alive, ever moving towards the edges of space, alive in a viral sense.
