Monstrosity: The Seekers Of The Pillars Of Truth. 2007

Monstrosity: The Seekers of the Pillars of Truth is a generative software artwork by Stanza, developed as a series of 26 interconnected digital compositions. The artwork constructs an imagined urban landscape in which moving towers rise, shift and weave across the city, creating an unstable architectural environment that is continually reconfigured by the software.
The gallery and installation version comprises 26 individual works, adapted for a 1024 × 768 screen format and integrated into a bespoke software interface. The system runs continuously, generating changing visual arrangements through random processes, so that no two sequences need be the same. Alternatively, visitors can interact with the work through a touchscreen, exploring the series and influencing their experience of the evolving digital city.
Ideally presented as a triptych of projected images, the installation fills the exhibition space with moving architectural forms, transforming the surrounding environment into a dynamic, immersive urban vision. The work explores the relationship between architecture, technology and the systems that shape our perception of the city, presenting an environment that is simultaneously constructed, unstable and constantly in flux.
Exhibition format: Installation / triptych projection / interactive software
