I am off to Brussels to install a Nemesis Machine for the The Festival des Libertes (Festival of Freedoms) Théâtre National Wallonie-Bruxelles, Brussels.

I am delighted to be spending two months in Taiwan reflecting on the ideology of endless technological growth. Based in Luodong, Taiwan I developed Temple Garden as new art installation. The work asks a simple question: what does AI actually consume in order to exist? Thanks to the Hyperwave team. Toxicity Driven Breathless is on show at Palau Robert Barcelona, Spain This artwork visualises the invisible forces shaping our urban environments. Using a custom-built electronic system, it scans real-time pollution data worldwide. This then moved to Norway and was featured in a small solo show as part of MetaMorf Biennale Norway. An embedded AI, trained through machine learning, interprets these data streams to reveal patterns of toxicity—rendered visually as dense, traffic-like flows. [more info]

It was great to be in Saudi Arabia for a three months arts residency intergrating public data across Saudi Arabia into new artworks at Diriyah Arts Futures Riyadh. [more info] I also spent time creating new ideas for a project about the 'age of empowerment' [more info]

One installation was realised The Sands Of Time: Artificial Ecologies: Reimagining the Environment Through Data [more info]

My STARTS residency is coming to an end. This involved five trips to Milan at MEET. These generative systems pose urgent questions: Will the cities of the future be self-governing, capable of making decisions through open data? In Entangled Cities, AI becomes a speculative collaborator, translating air quality, mobility, social and network data into dynamic visual narratives that serve as metaphors for invisible urban agency. I am going to Saudi Arabia for Noor Riyadh 2024, installing Out Of Breath. It appears like the tree is breathing in and out with sounds of breath fading in and a red glow showing the process. By using art inspired, technology supported eco-visualizations that wilfully put us out of our comfort zone, we stimulate creativity, debate and engagement. [more info]

I am going Ars Electronica Austria with The Oracle. The Oracle is trying to offer alternative realities through the operations and algorithms to speculate what happens when machines control the future. The provocation lies in the suggestion that the machine is not merely processing information, but actively thinking—perhaps even exhibiting a form of consciousness. [more info]

On show Deutsches Museum Germany, I Am Alive. The artwork is learning from thousands of real time data feeds across the whole country using newly learned behaviours that have become alive.  The system is designed to evolve autonomously over time, forming new behaviors, rhythms, and patterns as it “consumes” incoming data. In this way, the AI acts continuously interpreting, adapting, and reshaping itself in dialogue with human and environmental inputs. [more info]

Solo exhibition in Germany at HNF Paderborn. How will AI affect the city of the future? Using unsupervised machine learning and thousands of real-time data feeds from Germany. This artwork exists as a physical avatar of real-world systems, continuously animated by live inputs from sensors, networks, and human presence. The installation incorporates AI and unsupervised machine learning and questions how will artificial intelligence affect the governance of the environment in the future. Living Landscapes Series on show Finland as part of my solo show. Selected artwork uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) Machine Learning (ML) to investigate global pollution data while others monitor wifi activity in the city. They all have in common that they depict maps with layers of confused data, mixed information bout the landscape. Each artwork becomes poetic interpretations of places we inhabit.   [more info]

The Emergent City at The Futurelab at FOS. This is the largest and most complex art city the artist has made to date which is custom built for each location. This city governs itself and its actions, and the intelligence is completely controlled by the data interactions of the system. This was a crazy weekend set up with a team of twelve surrounded by the speed of Goodwood. [more info]

After several years development Velocity is on show in France and Finland (simultaneously) This performative public engagement artwork uses a custom made software APP to track participants in the city as individuals. The data is then represented as a morphed collective group entity, a visual collage of where we have all been. When it is exhibited the online visualisation can be seen in galleries. Ideal for large festivals.[more info]

The Binary Graffiti Club received an Arts council grants for the arts. The choir sings the binary messages which are customised for each event for example it has been presented in English (zero one), in German (eins null), in Welsh (dim un) and in Polish (zeden zero). The choir can be either organised choirs, community choirs, professional choir or members of the public. For festivals and openings and special events inside or outside as pop up events. [more info]
